Sean Bailey, Architect_Associate

Sean is a licensed architect in the state of California and has worked in the Bay Area in the field of architecture and design for almost a decade. He has spent time and collaborated with numerous award-winning offices including Fougeron Architecture, Pfau Long Architecture, and Ideo before becoming an associate at Z+A. Sean’s portfolio of work includes projects as large as the Golden State Warriors new arena development office towers in Mission Bay to small scale interior remodels and furniture design. Sean’s architectural hero is Richard Neutra and his design attitudes are grounded in the simple, clean, and crisp lines of the california modernist tradition that emphasizes a strong connection to the natural site and serves as a quiet and subtle background to human interaction. Sean’s role at the firm focuses on guiding clients through a project from concept design to detailing of construction documents and all the way through the completion of construction. Sean enjoys client engagement and working with talented consultants to coordinate a highly detailed and design-centered final product that successfully brings clients' visions to life within their budget.

Sean graduated from California Polytechnic University San Luis Obispo in 2008 with Bachelor’s of Architecture. During his time at Cal Poly, he was a Dean’s list student, selected for the SF Internship program, chosen by faculty to represent the school at the Neokloster Design Competition in Berlin his thesis year, and won numerous design scholarships and competitions. He grew up in Colorado and spent his formative years on the job site framing houses for his Dad’s construction company.
