Project Description
The Monte Terra project is a new ground-up home for a winemaker and artist couple in Sonoma. The simplification of the structural system on the sloping site informed the look of this efficient and thoughtful design. Exposed boardform retaining walls create the foundation off which a floor system is cantilevered. An open floor plan creates a sense of space in a small footprint with display walls that are reserved for art pieces. The roof is simplified as one single drainage plane with full-length exposed wood beams highlighting the structure.
