Nick Miller nick@zmanarch.com

Nick is an associate at Z+A and graduated from California Polytechnic University at San Luis Obispo in 2008 with a Bachelor's of Architecture and a minor in Construction Management. In 2006/2007 he spent a year abroad at California State University of Florence which gave him a perspective on architecture in it's historical context. His college work was heavily dependent on hand drawings and physical models. Upon graduating Nick began working immediately and started his architectural licensure process. He should be done with licensure testing by 2012.

Nick grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and spent time working as a laborer on custom residential homes in Portola Valley and Palo Alto. His interest is in streamlining the construction process by improving the quality and re-examining the methods of construction drawing sets. Nick believes that by eliminating waste and improving the collaborative methods, time and money can be saved simultaneously with improved designs and better buildings.

While at CalPoly Nick interned summers with Duxbury Architects, a local custom residential firm in Los Altos, California, where he got experience buildings physical models, hand drawings, and drafting in AutoCad. After graduation Nick began working as a designer for HKS Hill Glazier Studio where he worked on large scale luxury hotel projects. He helped with schematic and design development sets for projects around the world. There he honed his skills in some 3D modeling tools; Revit and Sketchup, and managed and produced a complete permit package in Revit. Nick began at Z+A after the summer of 2010 in which he took time off to travel around the US to absorb local building methods and cultures.
